The Modern Renaissance Series: Golden Glow

Here is the second installment of The Modern Renaissance Series. If you don’t already know, I decided to start a series of posts where I create makeup looks based on the shades found in the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette (my absolute fave!). You can find the first look of the series here. For this look, I decided to go for gold. Primavera, the shimmery gold shade of the palette, is a relatively safe shade compared to every other colors you can find in it. That’s why for this look, I applied gold not only to my eyes, but to my cheeks, nose, and lips as well!

I decided that I wanted a really glowy base for this look, so after concealing my dark circles with my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and setting it with my Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, I applied my Laura Mercier Mineral Powder foundation all over my face. It always gives me a bright and flawless complexion. I bronzed my face and contoured my cheeks and nose with my Benefit Hoola Bronzer, then I added some color to my cheeks using my Yves Rocher Blush in Mat Abricoté. For highlight, I mixed the shades Golden Dawn and Sunray from my Anastasia Beverly Hills Ultimate Glow Palette, and applied it generously to my cheeks, nose, brow bone, and Cupid’s bow.

I used my Glossier Boy Brow (a new fave of mine!) to thicken and fill in my eyebrows. Using the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette, I took the shade Golden Ochre, a matte, earthy yellow, and applied it on my lids as a base. I blended a mix of the shades Burnt Orange, a matte, neutral orange, and Raw Sienna, a matte, neutral amber, onto my creases to define them. I applied Primavera, the shimmery gold shade of the palette, onto my lids, and Vermeer, and iridescent shell color with a metallic finish, onto my inner corners to highlight them. I took a very small amount of Cyprus Umber, a dark coffee color with a matte finish, on my brush and blended it on the outer corner of my eye. I lined my upper lashline with my MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Stubborn Brown, keeping my lower lashline clean. For mascara, I used my Maybelline Lash Discovery and gave myself long, defined eyelashes.

Lastly, I took my Happy Skin Glam Squad Liquid Matte Lipstick by Denise Go-Ochoa and applied it on my lips. I let it dry, then I topped it off with the same highlight that I used on my face.

And that’s it for this golden glow look! I really liked how it turned out. Even though it features an excessive amount of highlight, I still think it looks very polished and wearable. I was feeling this look so much that I took some #NoFilter phone selfies hehe
