I’m a little late to the trend, but I was playing around with my makeup when I decided to give myself a drunk flush and faux freckles. If you don’t already know, a drunk flush is the blush that develops on your face when you drink too much alcohol, and faux freckles are, well, faux freckles. This is a very youthful (and dare I say, Lolita-esque) look, and I actually love how it turned out.
Since the keyword here is “youthful,” I kept my base light and glowy by using my Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint. This tint is quickly becoming one of my go-to’s since it gives my face a subtle lift, and because it’s so easy to apply. I concealed my dark circles with my favorite, the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, and I set my undereyes and t-zone with my Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. I bronzed my forehead, cheeks, and nose with my Benefit Hoola Bronzer.
For the drunk flush, I used a combination of my Yves Rocher Blush in Rouge (a true red shade) and my NARS Blush in Gina (a peachy-orange shade). I was going to use the Yves Rocher one alone, but I found that if it is liberally applied, it can look blotchy and a little to much like the redness you get from acne. I dusted the NARS blush over it to add a bit more warmth to my complexion. For my faux freckles, I used the two cream bronzers from my Smashbox Lighting Theory Palette. Using a small eyeliner brush, I dotted the two shades around my cheeks and nose. Freckles aren’t perfect circles, so you don’t have to be a perfectionist when you do this step. After applying the freckles, I patted them in with my fingers to make sure they blend a bit into my skin, making them look more natural. Since I can’t go without highlighter, I took a bit of my MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle and applied it on my cheekbones, nose, and Cupid’s bow.
I didn’t want my eyebrows to look too done, so I used my Glossier Boy Brow to make them thick and bushy. I wanted to keep my eyes clean while still opening them up, so I took a combination of my Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (for volume) and Maybelline Lash Disovery Mascara (for length) to give myself long, fluttery lashes. I also applied the mascaras on my lower lashes to give myself a doll look. Lastly, I overlined my lips with my MAC Lip Liner in Spice, and filled them in with my MAC Lipstick in Taupe. I love how big and pouty they look.
And that’s it for my makeup! I hope you enjoyed this look, and that you give these trends a chance. You might feel a bit silly at first, but, like me, you’ll probably love the finished product.
