Rihanna has changed the game with the recent launch of her new makeup line, Fenty Beauty. She’s come out with highlighters, brushes, and contour sticks, but I think the pièce de résistance of her new line is the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. Being new to the makeup game didn’t stop RiRi from launching 40 different shades for her foundation line. The inclusivity of Fenty Beauty is impressive and praiseworthy, and I’m sure many other people of color would agree with me. With this said, I had to get one of the foundations for myself, so I ordered one from Sephora.ph, and now I’ll share my thoughts on it in this post.

The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation is the ultimate photo filter in foundation form. Fenty Beauty claims that it gives the skin an instantly smooth, pore-diffused, shine-free finish that easily builds from medium to full coverage. It is oil-free, non-comedogenic, and made with with climate-adaptive technology that’s resistant to sweat and humidity. It also has a longwearing, lightweight formula that’s supposed to be undetectable on skin. It comes in a frosted glass bottle with a plastic pump, and I think it looks really luxurious. It’s also cruelty-free!
I got my foundation in the shade 240. Since I bought it online and couldn’t try testers to get my match, I just got a general idea of what I thought my shade would be (somewhere between 230 to 270), then I looked up videos and photos of people using the shade I thought I was. Lo and behold, 240 is a perfect match! The photo on the left is my face with no makeup, and the one on the right is my face with the Fenty foundation on.
This foundation is matte. Like, really matte. I have to admit, I’m not really into matte finishes, and this foundation starts to look better when I go about my day as compared to when it’s freshly applied. It wears great on my normal/combination skin, and throughout the day, I only really have to blot my nose instead of my whole t-zone. I wouldn’t recommend this foundation for people who have dry, flaky skin as it’ll just accentuate those dry spots. The coverage is great; it’s quite full and it conceals my redness, pimples, and even my dark circles pretty well.
I use a blending brush to apply this foundation, and you have to be really careful about applying the right amount and blending it in quickly. It dries pretty fast, and it has the tendency to get cakey if too much is applied on the skin. I usually have to apply this foundation in sections. It’s really longwearing, and it makes my face look extra flawless whenever I use it. I always get compliments when I wear this foundation, so thanks Rihanna! Also, it kind of smells like Play-Doh, but that scent goes away after a while.

Rihanna definitely wasn’t messing around when she and her team created the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. It’s quite pricey at Php1950 on Sephora.ph, but if you have oily, uneven skin and have a hard time matching to different foundations in the market, then the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation would definitely be worth it!
